Yesterday afternoon Eric Cantor tweeted:
Eric Cantor @GOPLeader
I just voted YES on a #FullRepeal of Obamacare. Americans deserve better.
Really? How can he be so proud of doing something that does absolutely nothing – for the 33rd time? And do he and the rest of the Republican contingent think we didn’t already know they hate the Affordable Care Act? They remind me of a bunch of two-year-olds lying on the floor kicking and screaming, “No! No! No! No! No! No! No! No! No! No! No! No! No! No! No! No! No! No! No! No! No! No! No! No! No! No! No! No! No! No! No! No! No!” That would be 33 No!s. Annoying, isn’t it?
We get it. Now can we move on?
It’s time for the GOP to grow up and start at least attempting to govern rather than continuing their pattern of endless grandstanding and bomb throwing. President Obama is not a socialist and calling him one just shows an ignorance of what a socialist is. Same holds true for references to Nazism, and slavery.
Republicans need to get their act together and get their people under control. They used to be so good at that; it was the one thing I really admired about them. Once they do, they can get some work done with the Democrats. The Dems aren’t perfect and they’re not as monolithic as the GOP, but they represent a significant and valid portion of the population – one that won’t go away even if Mr. Romney manages to take the White House.
In short: Stop the tantrums, get up and act like adults. It’s embarrassing to all of us to have our representatives behave this way.
Oh, and they might spend a moment telling us what the “better” is that we deserve.
